Coparity and TalkingParents: which one fits your family
If you are separating, choosing a co-parenting app is one more decision on a long list, and it is hard to judge from feature lists alone. Both of these apps work, and plenty of families are fine on either. The real question is what each one is built to do: hold a durable record of what passed between two parents, or run the everyday life of a child across two homes.
Coparity is built for
Coparity is built for the ordinary week — agreeing a parenting plan provision by provision, keeping one calendar of whose house and what still needs packing, and giving each parent a private lane for their own notes and their own solicitor. It is made and priced for the UK, with one plan per family that covers both parents.
TalkingParents is built for
TalkingParents is built around the record. Its focus is documented messages and calls that can't be altered, alongside a custody calendar, shared expenses and payments between parents — made in the US, priced in dollars, for parents who want every exchange captured in a form they can print and hand over.

- Family £12/mo after a 14-day trial
- TalkingParents · Per parent, tiered; each parent pays

Payment fees 2–4% by tier; 30-day trial
Coparity is billed per family space, so both parents share one plan: a 14-day free trial with no card, then Family at £12 a month — about £12 a month for two parents. TalkingParents is billed per parent and tiered, so each parent pays: Essentials $7, Enhanced $16 or Ultimate $32 a month on the web, or $9, $19 or $39 a month in-app, with calling-minute packs from $25 to $46 and payment fees of 2–4% depending on tier, after a 30-day trial — about $14 to $64 a month for two parents. The currencies are different and we won't convert them for you; compare the shape of the billing as much as the number.
TalkingParents may suit you better if…
- A solicitor, mediator or court has asked for TalkingParents by name, or for a certified, printable records package — Coparity has Snapshot and a full data export, but neither is certified.
- You are a US family, or you want to pay in dollars and use features built around US practice.
- You need to speak as well as type, and want the calls themselves documented in the same place as the messages.
- You want to send money to the other parent inside the app rather than settling expenses outside it.
Coparity may suit you better if…
- You are co-parenting in the UK and want pricing, language and legal support that assume the UK.
- You want to agree how things will work — the pattern, the splits, the notice periods — not only to record what was said. Coparity's Playbook is agreed provision by provision, and agreeing a provision writes the live setting.
- You want your own private side: a journal, a case brief and a 1:1 thread with your own representative that the other parent never sees.
- Your co-parent hasn't joined and may never join. Coparity is a complete product for one parent, and everything waits for them if they arrive.
Whichever you choose, the point isn't which parent comes out ahead in the app. It's that your child knows where they're sleeping on Thursday, that their kit is packed, and that nobody has to ask them to carry the message.
Is Coparity available in the UK?
Yes. Coparity is a UK platform, priced in pounds, with a legal lane built for parents working with family-law firms in this country. TalkingParents is made in the US and priced in US dollars.
Will a court accept records from either app?
TalkingParents offers certified, court-ready records exports. Coparity gives you Snapshot — a neutral look back at shared arrangements, identical for both parents — and a full data export, but neither is certified. If records matter in your case, ask your solicitor or mediator what format they want before you choose.
Which is cheaper for two parents?
It depends on the tier and the currency, so compare them side by side rather than taking our word for it. Coparity charges one price per family space that covers both parents; TalkingParents charges each parent separately, with higher prices for in-app purchase and extra costs for calling minutes and payment fees.
Can I use Coparity if my co-parent won't join?
Yes. A parent whose co-parent never joins gets the complete single-parent product — plan, calendar, journal, expenses, legal lane — and everything waits for them if they do join later.
Does Coparity have in-app calls or payments?
No. Coparity has realtime chat with optional tone help before a tense message is sent, and shared expenses with a required receipt and pending, paid or disputed status — but calls and parent-to-parent payments happen outside it. TalkingParents offers both, on its higher tiers in the case of calling.
