If we've contacted you about Coparity

Last updated 6 October 2026

We write to a small number of family-law professionals about Coparity, a co-parenting platform their clients can use. This page explains why we have your work contact details, where we found them, and how to ask us to stop — which takes one reply.

Template — pending legal review. This is a plain-language draft written to be clear and honest about how Coparity works. It is not yet reviewed by a qualified legal or privacy professional and is not legal advice. Wording will be finalised before public launch.

1. Who we are

Coparity is operated by [Legal entity name], registered at [Registered address]. For the details on this page we are the data controller. You can reach us at privacy@coparity.family, or by replying to the email you received.

2. What we hold about you

  • Your name, role and the firm you work for.
  • Your work email address, the town your office is in, and your LinkedIn profile address if it is public.
  • Where we found these details.
  • A short log of our contact with you: when we wrote, what about, and what you said.

We do not hold personal email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses or anything about you outside your work.

3. Where we found them

Only from public professional sources: your firm's website, Resolution's member directory, the Law Society's Find a Solicitor, LinkedIn, an event we both attended, or an introduction from someone who knows you. We never buy contact lists.

4. Why, and on what basis

To tell family-law practices about Coparity and invite them to try it with their clients. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: a short, relevant email to a professional about their work, written by a person, one at a time.

We only email someone at a limited company or LLP, or someone who has asked us to. We do not send marketing email to sole practitioners or ordinary partnerships unless they have asked for it.

5. Who sees it

Only Coparity's founder. The details are kept in our own database, hosted by Supabase in the EU (Ireland), and the emails are sent from Google Workspace. We never share or sell them, and they are never visible to anyone using the Coparity app.

6. How long we keep it

We delete your details if we have had no contact for 24 months, or straight away if you ask.

If you ask us not to contact you, we keep only your email address on a do-not-contact list, with no other details, so that we never write to you again by mistake. That list is the one thing we keep after deleting everything else.

7. Your rights

  • To stop hearing from us — reply “no thanks” to any email, or write to privacy@coparity.family. This is absolute and takes effect the same day.
  • To see what we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted.
  • To object to our use of it, or ask us to restrict it.
  • To complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.

How we handle the data of people who use Coparity is in our main Privacy Policy.
